Description

11" x 17" @ 450 DPI. Art by Jim Lee, Scott Williams and Alex Sinclair. Jim is doing variants for the first 6 issues of this book, each featuring a character from the series. First up is Saturn Girl from the 70's. I just turned in the cover to #2 so I will hopefully be able to upload it here soon.

Rad!A girl who can not only read your mind at a distance but can Jedi mind trick you as well terrifies me more than Diana's lasso or Daredevils hearing any day! I have been a Legion fan since my childhood in the 70's (though they had been around for awhile before that) and I still love them dearly. One of the reasons is that The Legion, more than any superhero property from the big 3, is COMPLETELY resistant to any in depth, feature film adaptation. Basically you can do the Saturday morning cartoon or the guest episode of a light girl friendly show like  Smallville, but it would collapse under its own weight, for a multitude of reasons, if you tried to give it the straight faced X-Men/J.L.A movie treatment. Just the whole "some characters hail from worlds where EVERYONE has their special ability" angle would confound even the writers and producers of Ant-Man,LOL!!!No, I think that a video game may be the only place for an accurate and uncompromising Legion adaptation for mainstream audiences. I don't want the cutesy, sugary, cartoon y (in grade school I would just have said "gay") treatment the Teen Titans received for GO!, though lots of folks who arent hip to the Wolfman/Perez comic dig it just fine because they think the whole concept was constructed around Robin as an original TV idea. And why is there Tara in that show but no Kid Flash or Wonder Girl? Anyways, I want my impossibly difficult, non hard sci fi comic book Legion or just keep it a comic.Unfortunately, I fear they will probably appear on the Supergirl TV show, and that would be a complete realization of my nightmares.  Who's with me? Am I a buzz kill?
